“The LORD is nigh
unto them that are of a broken
heart; and saveth such as be
of a contrite spirit.” —
Psalm 34:18
There are moments
when the weight of past
decisions feels unbearable.
You replay conversations,
choices, and crossroads,
wishing you could step back
and choose differently.
Regret has a way of
convincing us that we are
alone, that God is distant,
or that we have forfeited
His kindness.
But God’s Word
says something else
entirely.
When your heart is
broken over your choices, God
is not far away—He is
near. When you feel
crushed by remorse, He
is not repelled—He is
present.
“The sacrifices of
God are a broken spirit: a
broken and a contrite heart,
O God, thou wilt not
despise.” —
Psalm 51:17
Your sorrow is not
wasted. Your repentance is
not ignored. God does not
despise a heart that knows
it needs Him.
God’s Mercy Is
Greater Than Your Worst Moment
It is easy to
believe that grace runs
out—that we have crossed a
line or disappointed God too
many times. But Scripture
tells us that God’s mercy is
not fragile or temporary.
“It is of the LORD’S
mercies that we are not
consumed, because his
compassions fail not. They
are
new every morning: great is
thy faithfulness.” —
Lamentations 3:22–23
God’s compassion
does not depend on how well
you did yesterday. It is
renewed every morning.
Today is not disqualified by
yesterday’s mistakes.
“For thou, Lord, art
good, and ready to forgive;
and plenteous in mercy unto
all them that call upon thee.” —
Psalm 86:5
Notice the word ready.
God does not hesitate to
forgive. He is inclined toward
mercy.
You Are Not Beyond
Forgiveness
Some decisions leave
marks that don’t disappear
quickly. Consequences may
linger, relationships may need
time to heal, and trust may
need to be rebuilt. But
forgiveness from God is not
delayed until everything is
repaired. It is offered the
moment you turn your heart
toward Him.
God does not ask you
to clean yourself up before
coming to Him. He invites you
to come as you are,
honest and open, trusting His
character more than your own
track record.
“If we confess our
sins, he is faithful and
just to forgive us our sins,
and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness.” —
1 John 1:9 (KJV)
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father, I
come to You with a humble and
honest heart. You see the
choices I regret, the weight I
carry, and the places where I
wish I had chosen differently.
I confess my sins to You—not
hiding, not excusing, but
trusting Your love.
Thank You that Your
Word promises: “If
we
confess our sins, he is
faithful and just to forgive
us our sins, and to cleanse
us from all
unrighteousness.” I
hold onto that truth now.
Cleanse my heart,
Lord. Lift the burden of shame
that I was never meant to
carry. Help me believe that
Your forgiveness is complete
and that Your mercy is greater
than my past. Where
consequences remain, give me
patience. Where healing is
needed, give me grace. Where I
fear the future, remind me
that You are already there.
Teach me to walk
forward—not defined by my
mistakes, but guided by Your
love. Restore my hope. Renew
my strength. Lead me in the
way everlasting.
I place my past, my
present, and my future into
Your hands, trusting that You
are good, faithful, and kind.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
