“The Lord is nigh
unto them that are of a
broken heart; and saveth
such as be of a contrite
spirit.” —
Psalm 34:18 (KJV)
Reflection
Addiction can make
you feel trapped in a cycle of
shame—promising yourself
change, falling short, and
wondering if God is tired of
you. But Scripture tells a
different story. God does not
stand at a distance from your
struggle. He draws near to the
brokenhearted. He does not
wait for you to be “fixed”
before He comes close.
You may feel weak
today. You may feel like
you’ve failed too many times
to count. Yet the Bible never
says God saves the strong—it
says He saves the humble, the
weary, the honest. Your
struggle does not repel Him;
it invites His compassion.
Grace Is Stronger
Than the Chains
Scripture:
“My grace is
sufficient for thee: for my
strength is made perfect in
weakness.” —
2 Corinthians 12:9 (KJV)
Reflection
Addiction often
tells you that your weakness
defines you. God says your
weakness is the place where
His strength can be revealed.
Grace does not mean ignoring
the seriousness of
addiction—it means you are not
abandoned while healing takes
time.
You are not required
to overcome everything today.
Grace is sufficient for this
moment, this
temptation, this
decision to keep going.
God’s strength works not by
crushing you, but by
sustaining you.
A Way Forward, One
Step at a Time
Scripture:
“There hath no
temptation taken you but such
as is common to man: but God
is faithful, who will not
suffer you to be tempted above
that ye are able; but will
with the temptation also make
a way to escape, that ye may
be able to bear it.” —
1 Corinthians 10:13 (KJV)
Closing Prayer
Lord God, I
come to You just as I
am—tired, imperfect, and in
need of Your mercy. You
see
the struggle I carry, the
battles others may not notice, and
the
moments when I feel weak or
afraid.
Thank You for being
faithful even when I stumble. Thank
You for not turning away from
me in my hardest moments. When
temptation
feels overwhelming, help me
see the way You provide— the
pause,
the courage, the next right
step.
Give me strength for
today, not for everything at
once. Quiet
the voice of shame and replace
it with Your truth. Surround
me with Your peace, guide me
toward healing, and
remind
me that I am never alone.
I trust You with
this journey, one step at a
time. Amen.
