Few crosses weigh heavier than the rejection of one’s own children. It is a sorrow that pierces deeply, because God Himself designed the bond between parent and child to be one of love, honor, and mutual care. When that bond is strained or broken, the heart aches.
Yet the Lord does not leave His people comfortless.
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3
Your grief is not unnoticed. Your tears are not forgotten. Your Father in heaven bends down to you with mercy.
Christ Knows This Pain
More Than Anyone
For comfort and encouragement, we always return to Christ—because He is not only our Savior from sin, but also our Companion in suffering.
Jesus Himself experienced rejection from those closest to Him.
“He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.” — John 1:11
“Even His brothers did not believe in Him.” — John 7:5
“He was despised and rejected by men.” — Isaiah 53:3
Our Lord knows the sting of love unreturned.
He knows the ache of being misunderstood.
He knows what it is to pour out love and receive silence.
Because He has borne this sorrow, He walks with you in yours.
Your Identity Is Secure
in God, Not in Their Rejection
When children reject a parent, it can feel like a verdict on your worth. But God speaks a different truth over you—one that cannot be revoked.
“I have loved you with an everlasting love.” — Jeremiah 31:3
“You are precious in My eyes, honored, and I love you.” — Isaiah 43:4
“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God.” — 1 John 3:1
“The Lord will be your everlasting light, and your days of sorrow will end.” — Isaiah 60:20
Their rejection does not define you.
God’s love does.
God Remembers the Love
You Have Given
Even if your children do not acknowledge your sacrifices, God does.
“God is not unjust; He will not forget your work and the love you have shown.” — Hebrews 6:10
“In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.” — Proverbs 3:6
“Whatever you do, do it heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” — Colossians 3:23
Every prayer.
Every meal.
Every sleepless night.
Every act of love.
God remembers what others forget.
God Heals the
Brokenhearted and Binds Their
Wounds
Your heart may feel shattered, but God is a healer of emotional wounds as surely as physical ones.
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3
“I will heal their backsliding; I will love them freely.” — Hosea 14:4
“He restores my soul.” — Psalm 23:3
“The God of all grace… will Himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.” — 1 Peter 5:10
You are not too broken for God to mend.
He specializes in restoration.
God Can Restore What Has
Been Lost
Even when reconciliation feels impossible, God is not limited.
“I will restore to you the years that the locust has eaten.” — Joel 2:25
“Is anything too hard for the Lord?” — Genesis 18:14
“With God all things are possible.” — Matthew 19:26
“Behold, I am making all things new.” — Revelation 21:5
Restoration may come slowly.
It may come unexpectedly.
It may come after a long season of waiting.
But God is able.
God Holds You While You
Wait
While you pray for healing in your family, God offers peace for today.
“Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you.” — Psalm 55:22
“Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7
“My peace I give to you… Let not your hearts be troubled.” — John 14:27
“The Lord is my helper; I will not fear.” — Hebrews 13:6
You do not have to carry this alone.
You are not alone.
You are not abandoned.
You are held by the crucified and risen Lord.
